Vegan Strongwoman Earns Spot at Natural Strongman World Championships
The Canadian strongwoman is turning a lifelong ambition into reality after her latest victory secured her qualification for the Natural Strongman World Championships.

Competing in the Natural Atlantic Canada event, 57 kg athlete Veronique Cormier dominated a demanding lineup of five classic strongman challenges. Her performance was nothing short of commanding:
• Axle Deadlift Max: 315 lb — 1st place
• 200 lb Sandbag for Reps: 1st place
• 20 lb Front Hold: 2nd place
• 110 lb Axle Clean & Press: Seven reps — 1st place
• Conan’s Wheel: 1st place
Cormier’s achievements are even more impressive considering her life outside the gym. By day, she runs Leafy Gains, her vegan protein cookie company. She’s been fully vegan since 2019, a change driven by her stance against animal cruelty. Her diet now centres on pulses, rice, and other plant based staples—fuel that has clearly powered her to elite level strength.
Since making the switch, Veronique has:
• Qualified for the World Powerlifting Championships
• Broken the Canadian atlas stone record
• Earned a spot at the Arnold Sports Festival in strongman
Now, she’s preparing for her biggest stage yet.
“I am honored to receive an invite to go to the Natural Worlds in Scotland this year as it has been a comp I’ve always wanted to do,” Veronique told us. “The amount of talent in the UK is insane! I am very excited to go against a stacked class of 57 athletes.”
The road ahead will be tough, but if her recent performance is any indication, Leafy is more than ready for the challenge.
