Vlad returns to Thailand
Vlad returned to one his favourite races to take on The North Face Thailand 50k.
He was one of 578 starters facing the 31 mile race. Vlad won the 100k race in 2014 and won second in the 50k last year, so was aiming for a win in the 50k this year.
“The race itself is very runable” explained Vlad “but the hot temperatures really slows you down so it’s a very hard race.”
Vlad was among the front runners from the start although by the third split (around 1 hour 50 minutes) he was in third place, over eight minutes behind the leader. As we have seen before, Vlad ran strongly in the later stages to eventually win by seven minutes in 4:15:21.
This was particularly impressive because a week previously Vlad had entered the Hong Kong 100, dropping out after 45k with a neck injury.
