Vegan runner takes British Masters title
Lisa Gawthorne proved her versatility with a track run that gave her a British title.
Known more for her international achievements in duathlon (road running and cycling) she’s also represented Great Britain at cross country running.
The recent track meet saw her run in the British Masters 3000m Championship.
“I want to spend some time focusing on this distance this year to help my 5K” said Lisa, who has been vegan now for 20 years.
Finishing in 11.27 she was third overall and took the V40 gold.
“I am not a lover of banked tracks and as it was a 200m track that meant running round it 15 times instead of 7.5. It’s mentally tough and really needs you to stay super focused” she says. “Roll on getting more of these in this year to see how fast my legs can take me.”
