Vegan power at Arnold!
Eight of her nine lifts were good lifts, with only one fail on her third squat. Incredibly she improved on all of her already impressive personal bests in a robust display of vegan power.
Entering the meet with a squat pb of 480lb (218kg) she extended it to 505 lb (229kg). Ali also managed a massive bench of 450lb (204kg) which she seemed to managed relatively comfortably. For a 100lb (45kg) pb improvement. She also improved her deadlift by lifting 450lb (204kg).
This gives her a total of 1405lb (637kg).
Shortly afterwards she spoke to us about the experience.
“The meet went pretty well. Mentally, I felt calm and focused all day and physically felt pretty good. I knew my openers and had an idea for my second attempts and always let my coach call my thirds, but was still a bit surprised at how well everything moved.
“I was particularly excited about my 450lb bench, that was a 100lb personal record and with the speed we think that I'll be at 500lbs soon. I have another meet in 7 weeks at the Women's Pro-Am in Blue Ash, OH and am hoping to hit my Pro Total there.”
