Vegan fighter takes convincing victory against ex Euro Champion
The vegan fighter seems unstoppable as he made quick work of the quality McCarthy.
Cheavon Clarke stepped up a class in his fight against a former European Champion. The match was billed as a step up in class for Cheavon who is a relatively new pro fighter. Fighting in McCarthy’s home Belfast, ‘Chev’ continued his unbeaten run with a stoppage halfway through round four.
The fight saw Chev eager and energetic and was too much for McCarthy to handle. He threw some accurate and powerful right hands and dropped McCarthy early in the fourth. McCarthy got to his feet but the upcoming Clarke was too powerful and the referee had no option but to stop the fight.
This was his eighth win and sixth stoppage from eight professional fights. His first professional fight was 2020 and last year he collected the IBF International title.
In 2018 Cheavon went vegan. He finds his training schedule is handled much better.
“There’s not a lot of time between training, resting, eating, training again. So being able to eat something, digest it, have a quick little rest, and go again. It’s great. Before when I was eating meat, that took a lot longer,” he said.
Before the match Cheavon had stated his plans to fight for a world title. This convincing win means he may well be in with a shot.
