Plant based potter thunders to English Open victory
The win marks a return to form as he taking a ranking tournament crown after two season without doing so. The last two seasons also see him drop out of the top 16 which grants automatic qualification to events. Now he’s back up there.

The 128 player tournament had Neil Robertson dropping only 4 frames in the first four rounds as he overcame strong players Sean Murphy and Barry Hawkins. In the 17-frame final he raced to a 7-1 lead against Wu Yize before Wu made a vigorous comeback. Wu played some explosive and aggressive shots to regain a stake in the proceedings. Neil held his nerve to secure the victory 9-7.
Neil is a former World Champion and world number 1 and the most successful player outside the British and Irish roots of the sport. The Aussie is nicknamed “The Thunder from Down Under” and is known for his phenomenal break building for which he’s an all-time great. He stopped eating meat and dairy in late 2014.
“I felt I needed to eat healthier to give myself the chance to get the most out of my career. I was pretty interested in the vegan diet for months before I decided to give it a try through speaking to Peter Ebdon who has been vegan for about 3 years now.”
He manages to keep this going when travelling around the world, and has enjoyed the benefits of restaurants like Loving Hut and after hours eats.
Congratulations to Neil, it’s great to see you back to your winning ways.
