More vegan superlifts at Junior World Championships
She faced 23 of the world’s best at the IPF Junior Powerlifting Championships – and did not disappoint.

British powerlifter Amelia Fox has continued her fantastic year with some mammoth lifts. Competing in the 57kg category, she squatted 157.5 kg, benched 80kg and finished with a 195 kg deadlift. The total of 432.5 kg put her in fourth place overall.
She was also awarded Gold for her deadlift, which was not a personal record; earlier this year her 202.5 kg in the gym looked comfortable.
Still aged 22, the lifts are fantastic for her division and have some wondering how far she can go in the sport.
Vegan Power
Amelia has been vegan since 2009, and explained how she made the change after watching documentaries online.
“I initially was hesitant to make the change, but the more I learned about animal rights and veganism, the more I realised how weak my excuses were and how nothing could justify the way animals are treated. Once I came to this realisation, I cut out animal products completely and have not looked back since.”
She trains with several elite vegans including Daniel Jay, Tom Butts and Cat Phipps.
Amelia fuels her success with tofu, oats, lentil pasta and TVP. Huel is handy for travelling too.
