She followed this up by becoming BP British Junior champion u57 kg and BUCS u63 kg vice champion in 2024. In 2025 she retained her British junior title u57 kg and she still holds the u57 kg British junior deadlift record for the category, 197.5 kg.
At the 2025 IPF Junior World Championships she took fourth overall, including Gold in the deadlift (more here).
Amelia has competed at the European and World championships at Junior level.
“My favourite competition was Euros 2024” she says. “It was the first time I got all 9 lifts at an international competition.”
At age 22 (in 2025) her competition personal bests in the 57 kg category were 157.5 kg for squat, 82.5 kg for bench and 197.5 kg for deadlift.
Vegan power
“…the more I learned about animal rights and veganism, the more I realised how weak my excuses were and how nothing could justify the way animals are treated.”
Amelia has been vegan since 2019 aged 17, and all of these achievements are plant-powered. She was motivated to change after discovering more about the cruelty inherent in animal farming.
“I found out about veganism after watching some documentaries and speeches online” she says. “I initially was hesitant to make the change, but the more I learned about animal rights and veganism, the more I realised how weak my excuses were and how nothing could justify the way animals are treated. Once I came to this realisation, I cut out animal products completely and have not looked back since.”
It’s now part of her lifestyle.
“I am completely vegan. I have never had issues when travelling, supermarkets in all countries I’ve been to have had everything I needed, I just use google translate to check the ingredients. I also bring protein powder and Huel with me when travelling just in case.”
Amelia eats a lot of tofu, protein powder, oats, lentil pasta and TVP (textured vegetable protein).
It has helped her build her impressive strength and continues to fuel her training as she continues to increase those lifts.
Amelia trains five days per week, focussing on the three lifts. This includes two sessions per week of both squat and deadlift, and four sessions of bench.
“I also do a good amount of accessory exercises for hypertrophy. Each session takes two to four hours.”
Amelia trains in a gym with bags of vegan strength – strongman Tom Butts and powerlifter Catherine Phipps are also regularly training there. The owner is Daniel Jay, who is a vegan strongman competitor.
She also notes that as she was vegan before she started lifting, and her phenomenal development has been testament to how well you can grow as a vegan.
Amelia’s is making a great impact at a young age, and she plans to continue for many years to come.
“My main goal within powerlifting is longevity – I enjoy the sport and want to be able to continue competing for many years. I hope to continue competing internationally as well.”
With a well-managed vegan diet and a disciplined approach to training, who would expect anything less?
