Jake Shields returned to winning ways with a convincing win over Judo expert Yoshihiro Akiyama.
Akiyama had cut to 170lbs for the first time, and demonstrated solid stances and some expert throws against Shields. Jake was always quick to bounce back up and reply with kicks and punches. This was the deciding factor as Akiyama was overwhelmed by the sharp strikes which outnumbered the judo man’s by three to one.
Akiyama is one of the most competent Judo practitioners to compete in cage fighting. The fight was Jake’s 27th win from a 34 fight career.
