Fell running success for Helen
Fell runner Helen Fines continues to excel in her demanding schedule of gruelling events.
In April of this year she ran the British Champions race in Northern Ireland and came away with a win. The series result is based on the best three results of four races, of which the Northern Irish race was the first, andfeatured 145 top athletes from theBritish Isles. The first race was a ten mile event which took in three peaks. Helen started well and and was seen among the leading men as the race progressed. She finished strongly in just over two hours, ahead of two thirds of the men.
This comes on top of some other notable results. Last year she was runner up again in the British Fell Running Championships. In July last year Helen also ran in the Snowdon International Race representing England, and came second. In August 2012 the vegan veterinary surgeon ran for Great Britain in the Tre Rifugi mountain relay race. Helen put in a blistering performance and broke the women’s downhill course record. More races are planned – good luck Helen!
