Another national title for vegan lifter
She’s still getting stronger!
Swedish Powerhouse Dr Fia Kamlund has competed at the Nationals and recorded her best ever competition total.
The meet follows a knee injury.
“I went there with uncertainty as to whether the knee would even manage to be wrapped. It did and I feel more confident about the output and depth, despite the outcome.”
Competing in the 84 kg equipped category, Fia lifted 215 kg.
In the bench press she is working towards the Swedish record of 170 kg. An attempt at taking this was so close, but not to be. “It wasn’t far away, so next time” she says. “How close is hard to say, but I almost made the lift.”
Fia still finished with a 160 kg bench. The deadlift of 190 kg was “good, but not quite what I want.”
The massive total of 565 kg was a personal best and enough to win her category and best overall female lifter.
Despite her success, Fia has her eye on more improvements.
“I will compete at the WC in two months and hope to do even better then!”
Dr Kamlund has been vegan since 2012 for ethical reasons.
“I was lacto-ovo vegetarian before that and I when I realised the connection between meat industry and how they treated animals also in milk and egg industry I went vegan.”
