Adam helps Australia to sixth World Cup victory
Vegan cricketer Adam Zampa is celebrating after helping Australia win the World Cup.
The win in the final crushed hosts India who were previously unbeaten in the tournament.
Adam played in key part in the team’s performance while setting records of his own. At the end of the group stage he had the most wickets of any bowler and he finished with the second highest haul, and the only spin bowler in the top 10.
He bypassed the Australian record of wickets at a World cup taken by a spinner set by Share Warne and finished just one short of the world record of 23. Adam took four wickets in three consecutive matches and unexpectedly starred with the bat against England. His 29 off just 19 balls came after several matches where he had not needed to bat.
This another success for the world-leading player who has over 90 ODI appearances and 162 wickets.
Vegan
Adam has been vegan since 2013.
“I met some animals, some cows, and just thought, ‘This isn’t food. They’re sentient beings who deserve a life as well’.”
He’s also aware of environmental impact, and manages some land he lives on to benefit the wildlife there.
