Vegan Ultra-Runner Shatters Course Record in 300km Epic
The Founder of The Green Runners covered 186 miles in record-quick time.
The Northern Traverse is a 300 km race that takes in some of England’s greatest natural scenery. It crosses three national parks and includes 6500 metres of height gain.
Damian Hall had announced that he was aiming to challenge the course record, and let nobody down. This stood at 44:24 and Damian was ahead of schedule at every checkpoint.
He finished in 42 hours 56 minutes and 50 seconds to take the course record and win by over four and a half hours.
Damian turned vegan in response to learning about the environmental impact of animal agriculture, and encourages a more environmental approach to the sport he loves.
He has seven course records and Fastest Known Times (FKTs). In 2021 he said:
“I broke three records last year and they are important but they are not the most important thing. For each of those records I did them without animal products fuelling me. Also without creating any plastic waste, which is much more difficult actually.”
