Vegan stars in European soccer final win
Vegan soccer star Chris Smalling showed his class as he helped his club Roma win a major European trophy.
The 32 year old was named Man of the Match in the Europa Conference League Final. The 1-0 win over Feyenoord in the completed a fantastic treble.
Smalling played in key role as the lone central defender, making two key blocks early in the second half. Perhaps more significantly he neutralised the threat posed by top scorer in the competition Cyriel Dessers.
Chris turned vegan in 2017, influenced by his wife and his dog. “I realised how brutal [animal agriculture] is to animals, how unnecessary it is to us, and how damaging it is to the environment” he said.
He’s also noted benefits in reduced inflammation after a match and improved recovery times. Chris has made several high profile investments in vegan companies. They include plant based meats, drinks and vegan dog food.
