Maddie McConnell has so many accolades including a World title (WNBF, 2022), and has just added to them. The Oregon-based coach and bodybuilder went to Virginia with her husband (also a pro vegan bodybuilder) to compete in the Ben Weider Pro Am.
She meal prepped everything, knowing she only had a microwave waiting for her.
“The show it’s self was awesome” Maddie buzzed “the event ran very smoothly, there were a lot of high caliber athletes.”
There was also one of Maddie’s biggest inspirations, 8-time Figure Olympia winner, Cydney Gillon, who presented Maddie’s winner’s award.
“I never thought I’d actually meet her in person! But I didn’t just meet her, so placed the crown on my head and congratulated me!”
Maddie has been vegan since 2019, inspired by colleague Zack Belknap. She was motivated by the ethics, although she’s also emphatic that meat comes amid health myths.
“You do not need animal products to live a healthy life. In fact, you will likely be healthier without them! Consumption of animal products is associated with many cancers, heart disease, and diabetes. Populations with the longest life expectancies eat primarily plant based.”
