Sophia Ellis has taken her third title at the British Open with another devastating display of vegan power.
The competition welcomed lifters from all over the world. The 26 year old has spent the last year with both knees affected by quad tendonitis but few would have noticed. She squatted a personal best of 175 kg, a massive lift for a lifter in the 76 kg category.
She benched 120kg before attempting to beat her own British deadlift record. The lift of 242.5 kg
This broke her own British deadlift record. It was also an unofficial European deadlift record. Sophia also broke the British total record twice on her second and third deadlifts, ending with 537.5kg.
Using a formula to compare men and women in different categories, the 190 lifters recording valid lifts were ranked. Sophia was 8th.
Sophia has competed with major powerlifting federations including at British European and World level, and the Arnold Sports Festival.
