The gloves are off as vegan fighter takes the Thai title
A vegan fighter is celebrating after winning a national Thailand title belt in the brutal sport of bare knuckle fighting. The sport allows minimal hand protection and like boxing, allows punching but no kicks, knee or elbow strikes are allowed.

Po Denman fought in Thailand for the national title, in five 2 minute rounds. She won a unanimous decision to take the belt.
The win places Po at number 3 in the world in her 52kg weight class.
According to BoxRec, she is now ranked 4th across all weight classes of the top pound for pound fighters. She is also the first Asian to be on the top 10 P4P list in history.
“This victory is a reminder that hard work and perseverance can take you far in life” she says. “And this is not just about me, it’s about the process and the journey. It’s about all the people who have supported me on this journey.”
Po Denman is her ring name, and she is often referred to by her real name Chisakan Ariphipat.
Vegan fighter
Po has been vegan since university. “The predominant reason I chose to adopt a plant-based lifestyle was for the non-human animal welfare” she told Great Vegan Athletes.
She has found other advantages too.
“I trust in academic papers that show that a plant-based diet has profound effects on health and performance. I have also personally experienced a speedy recovery from a plant-based lifestyle.
“And a speedy recovery is crucial for athletes like us.”
