Ten days running on plants – more ultradistance success
The Mongolian ultra champion covered the equivalent of over 28 standard marathons in ten days to take second.

Budjargal Byambaa has a love of the fixed term ultra – when runners race for days rather than aim to complete a distance.
The former world 48 hour champion has returned to China’s Xiamen fixed term races where the clock never stops. In 2019 he ran the six day event and took the win.
Finishing with 1206 km (752 miles) completed, he took second. This is his seventh result over the ten day format and he’s always completed at least 690 miles.
Vegan runner
Budjargal has been vegan since January 2019 when he discussed nutrition with a doctor. He moved to plants only after agreeing that “naturally suited food for human body is not animal related food, it is plant based food.”
His incredible endurance is usually fuelled by natural raw foods, and he sees running as a spiritual discipline.
“Veganism is the right choice for me, it improves my physical strength” he says. “It helps me to transcend my physical self, moving to the next stage of my spiritual development and growth.”
