National successes for vegan swimmer
Young swimmer Or Tal has had a fantastic set of results at the Winter National Championships.

He broke personal bests on all events entered – 50m, 100m 200m and 400 m (all freestyle).
The 200 metre time of 1:46.49 is at the standard of qualifying for the European Championships. This gave him silver medal. Or also took 4th in the 400 metres (3:47.36) and 5th in the 100 free (49.12). He was against a number of swimmers who are training at Universities in USA. This was all in a 25 metre pool.
Or is still only 20 and expected to get faster. He has a strong work ethic and has been vegan since age 9.
“I love animals – they’re just like us – people” he says. “They are smart, they have feelings and they have families. I’m not gonna eat them especially when I know that you can be very strong and be a great athlete with this nutrition.”
