Vegan runner makes quick recovery to take another win
Alberto Pelaez Serrano completed a demanding month with another ultramarathon win.
Just a few weeks after winning the Dino race 57 km he completed the Transvulcania by Utmb on the island of La Palma. The 72km race has 4800m of elevation gain, and Alberto proved a quick recovery by taking 2nd place in his category.
15 days later he entered the 10000 del Soplao in Cantabria. The 75 km race has 3800 metres of height gain, and Alberto took the win.
His victory in the Dino race was celebrated crossing the line with his mother a fantastic source of support and also vegan for 12 years. The family have recently been relieved as she’s overcome serious illness. The two were able to cross the line together again this time.
And she was not the only vegan woman celebrating at the line.
“The victory in the women’s category in the same race went to Rancha Palacios” Alberto says. “she’s a vegan runner too!”
