Plant-based potter upsets the odds to take the title
Neil Robertson defended his Tour Championship in style to create one of the most memorable matches in the history of the sport.
The plant-based Australian fought through to the semi finals to face world #1 Ronnie O’Sullivan, who took the match to a deciding frame.
In the final against John Higgins, Neil’s opponent got off to a fantastic start, giving away few chances. At 9-4, Higgins needed just one frame to take the title.
Neil couldn’t afford mistakes and he made few, building some impressive breaks to pull off the impossible. Winning six frames in a row he completed one of the most remarkable comebacks snooker has seen.
“Amazing feeling to win but certainly felt for John at the end but he’s also done it to so many people over the years as well!” Neil reflected.
Neil has now been plant-based since late 2014, a decision he made for his health. He’s now in the form of his life and looking forward to the World Championships in the latter part of April.
“Thanks for the amazing support all week guys” he says on Instagram. “See you in Sheffield.”
