Canadian Pairs skater Meagan Duhamel added to her impressive medal haul this year with a Bronze at the world Championships, and Canada’s first pairs medal since 2008.
The pairs skated a difficult routine as part of their ambition to make the podium this year following last year’s fifth. Despite some difficulties arising from the complexities they had taken on, the performance left the Eurosport TV commentators enthusing with comments of “Oh come on – does it get any better than that!” “The timing on the last spin – exquisite!” and “It’s going to be a monster score, it’s got to be.” In particular they received acclaim for their triple Lutz and throw triple Lutz to give them an overall score of 204.56.
The scoring was not without controversy as stumbles from the German pair were followed by a strong score which was questioned by some but did place them in second above Meaghan and her partner Eric Radford.
Meagan later said “This bronze medal is golden to us, I don’t think we feel anything but joy about it”.
Congratulations on more amazing acheivements!
