Powerlifter Dawid Kawka has completed some amazing lifts at the European Championships – and still has more ambitions!

The 75kg raw lifter started with a 270kg (595lbs) squat before bench pressing a monster 177.5kg (391lbs).  He deadlifted 282.5kg (622lbs) to finish with a total of 730kg (1609lbs).

“Unfortunately I didn’t manage to do 10 times body mass, I didn’t feel the power the strength and calisthenics quote said afterwards.  “However, I managed to break my DOTS record and it is now 524.6 DOTS.”

DOTS is a calculator which enables comparison of lifters in different weight classes.

Dawid won his category by over 100 kg and was second of the hundreds of lifters across all categories.

Vegan Power!

Dawid has been vegan since April 2014 and found he felt better physically and mentally.  He said some people were surprised.

“I was the strongest guy in the gym, so they were a little confused.”

He has researched books written by athletes, coaches and doctors, and takes a measured approach to all aspects of powerlifting – including diet.

“Good coaches who are more driven by science than strange beliefs know that people can get every substance and nutrient from plants” he says.
