The Aussie powerhouse won both the Heavyweight and Openweight divisions.

Caleb Hudson entered the tournament with high hopes, leaving with two titles and a place in his third IFS Sumo World Championships.

He won the heavyweight title with just one loss and the Openweight undefeated, winning ten matches in total.

The former natural bodybuilder now weighs in at around 135 kg and stands at 178 cm (5 ft 11ins).  He’s comfortable squatting 180 kg for reps for cardio and has been completing bodyweight and weighted pull ups in numbers.  He’s benched 210 kg and is both vegan and natural.

The wins is a repeat of the 2023 Oceania Championships where he also won both divisions – and left undefeated.

Caleb coaches at Sydney Sumo club and is launching a new club.

The champion says he “went vegetarian for the environment and vegan for the animals.

“Going vegan has noticeably improved my health, from sleep quality, to skin health to getting rid of my GERD (Reflux).”

Caleb’s impressive size if fuelled with plenty of carbs.

“Heaps of bolognaise is my go to” he says. “Made with Tofu and Kidney beans as the primary protein sources. Lots of soy milk with cereals like wheat biscuits or oats, nuts and dried fruit.”

Regularly meals include “pasta, beans, tofu, heaps of veggies, cereals, plant milks, fresh fruit and peanut butter.”

“Also thick soups like split peas, lentils. Then just eat a LOT of it, frequently.”

Caleb also stresses that being vegan isn’t difficult.

“I want people to recognise that not only is being vegan not so hard or restrictive, but that it feels good, and that vegans aren’t who they think. Getting to know me people are always surprised I’m vegan because I’m a bit of an intense blokey-bloke, as well as a big ball of natural muscle.”
