Fiona Oakes runs in the Arctic marathon
Fiona spends her life caring for animals and currently cares almost singlehandedly for over two hundred dogs, horses, pigs, cats and sheep. She is also dedicated to promoting the vegan diet, which has taken her to top marathons where she has won top places (including wins and course records), the fastest marathon inside the arctic circle and she has completed the Marathon des Sables across the Sahara desert, probably the toughest footrace in the world.
National Silver for Emily

Canadian Pairs skater Meagan Duhamel added to her impressive medal haul this year with a Bronze at the world Championships, and Canada’s first pairs medal since 2008.
Lady vegan beats the men over 100 miles
Catra Corbett put in a gritty performance in the tough Razorback 100 mile race this month and came away with a victory. The fitness trainer has been vegan for 17 years and is a prolific ultradistance competitor. This was her 86th 100 mile race.

Runners World magazine has published a feature of the greatest runners of all time and unsuprisingly ultramarathon legend Scott Jurek was named as one of top eight.

Second gold for Meagan!
Reigning Canadian Pairs Figure Skating champions Meagan Duhamel & Eric Radford took to the ice in Ontario this month to defend their national Gold. Meagan, who was recently nominated as Vegan Athlete of the Year 2012 told her partner it would be easier to defend the title than it was to win it first last year.
Sarah Stewart Interview
Sarah Stewart has had another terrific year which included winning a Silver paralympic medal and being nominated as one fo the five Vegan Athletes of the year. The Australian wheelchair basketball player has fitted in this with a busy schedule that involves study towards post degree qualifications and teaching.
